Brett Mitchell, newly named conductor of the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, promises to help the organization embrace life outside the concert hall.
After searching more than a year for a successor to Patrick Flynn, who died in September 2008, the symphony board named Mitchell on Saturday during a private party at the Temple Theatre for sponsors and season ticket holders.
